Finsight — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Element Accounting (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Finsight financial analysis application (“Application”).

1. Information We Access

Finsight accesses the following data from your QuickBooks Online account solely to generate financial reports:

  • Balance sheet data
  • Profit and loss / income statement data
  • Accounts receivable aging data
  • Accounts payable aging data
  • Inventory data

This data is accessed through Intuit’s authorized QuickBooks Online API using OAuth 2.0 authorization, which you explicitly grant.

2. How We Use Your Data

Financial data accessed from QuickBooks Online is used exclusively to:

  • Generate financial analysis reports including balance sheet, income statement, KPI dashboards, and AR aging summaries
  • Produce formatted Excel and PDF reports delivered to you
  • Generate AI-assisted written commentary on financial results

We do not use your financial data for any other purpose, including advertising, benchmarking against other clients, or sale to third parties.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your financial data to third parties. Data may be shared only with:

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — for generating written financial commentary. Data shared is limited to summarized financial figures, not raw transaction data.
  • Dropbox — for storing and delivering your completed reports, if Dropbox integration is enabled.

4. Data Storage and Security

OAuth tokens used to access QuickBooks Online are stored securely on our servers and are never shared. Financial report files are stored temporarily during processing and saved to your designated Dropbox folder. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data.

5. Data Retention

We retain QBO access tokens only as long as necessary to provide the service. Generated reports are stored in your Dropbox folder and are under your control. You may revoke QBO access at any time through your QuickBooks Online account settings.

6. Your Rights

You may revoke Finsight’s access to your QuickBooks Online data at any time by visiting your Intuit account settings and removing the Finsight app authorization. You may also contact us to request deletion of any stored tokens or data.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date.
